Have you ever seen something like this and thought:
“Oh… I would LOVE to be able to stitch that.”
Maybe your mother or grandmother did needlework. Maybe you always meant to learn. Then life got busy. Kids, work, everyone else came first.
So now, finally, you sit down to try it.
You’re at the kitchen table with your reading glasses on and a little kit you ordered online. Hoop, fabric, thread, needle.
And within about ten minutes, it falls apart.
The thread twists into knots, and the back turns into a bird’s nest. The fabric goes loose and wrinkly in the hoop. And the leaves? They look like flat green blobs. Nothing like the picture on the box.
So you do what everyone does. You go to YouTube.
A twenty-something with perfect nails talks a mile a minute, and her hands move so fast they blur. She says “now just do a quick fishbone stitch” and moves on. You pause. You rewind. You lean in closer to the screen. You still can’t see where the needle went.
The tutorial showed you a stitch. It never showed you the process.
You keep trying for weeks. Another kit, more videos, more rewinding. Same knots, same wrinkles, same flat green blobs. Slowly, the half-done hoops pile up in a drawer.
Eventually the thought creeps in:
“Maybe I’m just not crafty. Maybe I left it too late.”
